Spider Vein Treatment in Granite Bay

We have options to help you ditch unsightly spider veins and show your skin with confidence

We’ve got nothing personal against veins—when they’re just doing their job. But when veins appear as blue, purple or red clusters on our face, ankles, or thighs, we’re not so thrilled to see them. Not only can spider veins make us think twice about wearing shorts in public, in some cases, they can cause physical aches and discomfort.

Unfortunately, spider veins are an all too common sign of the aging process, and occur when the vascular tissue gets stretched out over time. Fortunately, we have several safe, effective options to greatly reduce visible spider veins and restore a more youthful appearance to skin affected by them.

Laser spider vein reduction

Lasers can do an excellent job to reduce or eliminate visible spider veins for many patients. Laser vein therapy works by applying concentrated pulses of energy to heat the blood vessel, causing it to coagulate (essentially turn into a gel) and be absorbed by the body. Laser treatments can be performed during a 30 to 60 minute office visit, and typically require no downtime. A minimum of 2 to 4 treatments are usually needed to achieve a patient’s desired results.

Laser treatments are typically best for:

  • Very small to medium sized spider veins (less than the width of a spaghetti strand)
  • Smaller areas such as the face or ankles
  • Broken capillaries and vascular lesions in the face
  • Patients with lighter skin tones

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a non-surgical procedure involving a series of injections of a “sclerosing” solution. This solution causes the treated veins to collapse and gradually retreat from the skin’s surface. With a skilled injector, sclerotherapy is safe, effective, and there is minimal discomfort during the procedure. No downtime is required, although patients may need to wear support stockings for a day or two following treatment. Typically, 2 or more treatments are needed to achieve a patients’ desired results.

Sclerotherapy is usually the best option for:

  • Medium sized blood vessels (larger than a spaghetti strand, but smaller than vericose veins)
  • Larger areas such as the legs
  • Patients who are not good candidates for laser therapy

How long do results last after spider vein treatment?

Results after both laser vein therapy and sclerotherapy can last for many years, but neither option will permanently keep spider veins at bay. If spider veins are a problem for you now, it’s likely they will gradually return over the course of several years after treatment. The good news is that you can repeat treatment at any time.
