Neck Liposuction
Sculpt a refined, graceful neckline & improve facial harmony with this classic contouring procedure
There are a lot of nice doubles out there: cheeseburgers, tennis, dog dares, etc. A double chin? Not so nice. Unfortunately, excess fat beneath the chin (which plastic surgeons call “submental fullness”) is typically an inherited trait—if you’re at a healthy body weight, no amount of diet and exercise is likely to have an effect.
Good thing there’s liposuction, because this tried-and-true contouring procedure can help reduce fat beneath the chin and sculpt a more natural, defined shape to the neck and jawline.
Why consider neck liposuction?
For such a small area, the chin and neck can have a big impact on your appearance. A well-defined, smooth neck and jawline provide the foundation for an attractive, youthful face. If you have excess fat beneath your chin, this can detract from facial harmony, causing your features to appear out of balance or even making you look older or heavier than you really are.
Liposuction with a skilled plastic surgeon such as Dr. Clark can selectively remove excess fat under the chin and sculpt neck contours to:
- Improve harmony between facial features
- Restore a stronger, more refined appearance to the jawline
- Help you look more youthful and fit
- Reduce or eliminate submental fullness (aka “double chin”)
Is neck liposuction the right option for me?
Neck liposuction is an excellent procedure to remove excess fat beneath the chin and sculpt a more refined jawline. For optimal results, you need to have good skin elasticity, and be primarily bothered by excess fat.
If sagging skin or neck muscles is your primary concern, then neck lift surgery may be more appropriate for you.

All the key facts you need
Dr. Clark performs neck liposuction as an outpatient procedure in our private, accredited on-site surgical center. Depending on your needs and the extent of surgery, she may use local anesthesia with sedation, or general anesthesia, provided by a board certified MD anesthesiologist.
She’ll make a tiny incision underneath the chin, and then insert a small, thin cannula (liposuction tube) to break up fatty tissue and remove excess fat cells in the precise pattern needed to achieve a naturally smooth, attractive neck appearance.
Recovery follows a similar timeline to that of liposuction recovery for other areas; however, patients usually get back to activities even sooner after neck liposuction. Dr. Clark will go over your expected recovery during your consultation.
