Combining precision and compassion for your post-pregnancy transformation.

Lots of us here at Granite Bay Cosmetic Surgery are moms ourselves. We know how pregnancy and childbirth can change your body. We also get that not all of these are changes you’d like to keep. Deflated breasts, stretched abs, sagging skin—these can lead to sagging confidence, especially since diet and exercise often do little to reverse these effects. We’re here to help.

Dr. Christa Clark specializes in mommy makeovers—personalized cosmetic surgery plans designed to restore your breasts and body to the shape and proportions you enjoyed pre-baby (or even better!). If you’re considering a mommy makeover in Granite Bay, Sacramento, or the surrounding area, you’re in the right place. Dr. Clark is especially passionate about helping women feel confident and empowered through this transformative procedure.

What is a Mommy Makeover?

A mommy makeover is a customized combination of plastic surgery procedures designed to address the physical changes many women experience after pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. This often includes restoring volume to the breasts, tightening stretched abdominal muscles, removing excess skin, and refining Trusetd Source Checkbox Trusted Source Mommy Makeover American Society of Plastic Surgeons Go to Source body contours. Most mommy makeover procedures include a form of abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), breast lift or augmentation, and liposuction—but your plan will be personalized based on your goals. Some women choose to include other mommy makeover options, such as labiaplasty or thigh contouring, to feel more comfortable and confident in their bodies again.

Benefits of a Mommy Makeover

We get it. As a mom, you’re busy making sure everyone else is happy and healthy. But a confident mom is the best role model your kids can have. If you’re unhappy with your breasts or body, making the improvements you desire can have lasting, positive benefits.

A mommy makeover can help you get:

  • perkier, fuller, and firmer breasts
  • a flatter, smoother tummy with tighter abdominal muscles
  • sleeker, more youthful body proportions
  • a big boost in confidence!

Not only will clothing fit more comfortably, but you’ll have more options when it comes to finding a flattering fit. Many patients also notice fewer visible stretch marks and more even skin tone in the abdominal area after excess skin is removed with abdominoplasty. With the right combination of procedures, your results can feel as functional as they are beautiful.

Whether you’re just starting to explore your mommy makeover options or already know what you’d like to change, we’re here to help you feel like yourself again—just more refreshed.

Your Mommy Makeover Consultation

Before scheduling your mommy makeover surgery, you’ll meet with Dr. Christa Clark for a personalized consultation. This is where she gets to know you—your goals, your concerns, and the changes you’d most like to see. She’ll assess your skin quality, abdominal muscles, and overall anatomy to determine which combination of procedures will help you get the results you want.

Dr. Clark will review your medical history, including any previous surgeries, current medications or supplements, and lifestyle habits such as smoking or alcohol use, to ensure a safe and smooth experience from start to finish.

Your consultation is also the time to explore your mommy makeover options. Whether you’re thinking about a breast lift with implants, a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), liposuction, or even labiaplasty, we’ll talk through how each procedure works and what’s realistic for your body. Dr. Clark will give you honest feedback, walk you through what to expect, and create a surgical plan that fits your goals and life.

Our goal is to help you feel fully informed and confident in every decision—before, during, and after your mommy makeover.

Preparing for Your Mommy Makeover

Once your mommy makeover is scheduled, we’ll give you detailed pre-op instructions to help you prepare. These guidelines are designed to promote a smooth recovery and support the best possible results from your combination of procedures.

Here’s what to expect in the lead-up:

  • Stop smoking and vaping. Nicotine interferes with healing, so you’ll need to stop at least 6 weeks before and after surgery.
  • Discontinue certain medications. We’ll let you know which prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, or supplements to pause in advance of your surgery.
  • Arrange for post-op help. You’ll need a trusted adult to drive you home after surgery and stay with you for the first day or two.
  • Plan for child care. Since you won’t be able to lift anything heavy—including little ones—for several weeks, it’s important to arrange for help with daily tasks and childcare ahead of time.
  • Set up a recovery space. Stock your bedside with essentials, gather loose, comfy clothing, and create a cozy, low-stress zone to rest and heal.

Every mommy makeover is unique, and your recovery time will depend on the procedures included in your surgical plan. By following your pre-op instructions closely, you’re giving your body the best foundation for healing—and the best shot at long-lasting, beautiful results.

The Mommy Makeover Procedure

Mommy makeover surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia to keep you safe and comfortable throughout. Because this is a combination of procedures, Dr. Clark will tailor the surgical approach based on your anatomy and goals. Most mommy makeovers include a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), liposuction, and breast enhancement—each with its own set of carefully placed incisions.

Depending on your needs and the complexity of the procedure, surgery may take several hours. In some cases, we may recommend staging the procedures across more than one surgery for safety and optimal results—especially if your mommy makeover plan includes multiple plastic surgery areas or more extensive correction.

No matter your unique path, our focus is on delivering results that look natural and feel like you—only more confident.

Mommy Makeover Recovery

Anticipating a smooth plastic surgery recovery is important to any patient, but for moms it’s a really big deal. You’re already busy taking care of your family—how can you carve out a few weeks of downtime? While it does require some smart planning, recovering from a mommy makeover, even with small kids at home, is totally doable. Knowing what to expect is the first step.

Mommy makeover recovery time depends on the procedures you have

One great thing about mommy makeovers is that you can have multiple procedures with only one recovery—a big time saver if you want to make improvements throughout your body.

General rule of thumb: downtime-wise, your recovery will follow the course of the most extensive procedure. For most mommy makeover patients, that’s a tummy tuck. While each procedure you have—whether it’s breast surgery, liposuction, or something else—will come with its own nuances, the overall rhythm of recovery tends to align. You can expect similar sensations and visible progress as your body heals.

How long will I need help with my kids?

The hard news first: you won’t be allowed to lift anything over about 10 lbs. for the first 2 weeks. Heavier things—including your children—are on the no-lift list for 3 to 6 weeks. Since most mommy makeover include a tummy tuck, expect the 6 weeks rule to apply. The good news is that you’ll be able to resume light activities very soon after surgery and won’t have to go more than a day or two without snuggling your little ones. A basic timeline of the type of childcare help you’ll need:

  • Around the clock care for you and your kids the first 2 to 3 days
  • Around the clock care for your kids the first 2 weeks
  • Someone else to drive for 2 weeks
  • Help with physical housework for 2 to 6 weeks, including carrying laundry, groceries, etc.

When will I see final results?

Again, this depends on the procedures you’re having. Breast lift or augmentation results are fairly close to final after about 3 or 4 months. Tummy tuck results are looking great a few months after surgery, and pretty fantastic by six months out. Results of any procedure can continue to improve for up to one year. Your surgeon will show you examples of previous patients’ results at different stages during your consultation.

FAQs About Mommy Makeover

It’s best to wait until you’re finished having kids—getting pregnant after a mommy makeover is safe but will affect your results. You also need to wait until you’ve finished breastfeeding and your OBGYN agrees it’s safe to undergo surgery. Then, it’s up to you. We have mommy makeover patients in their 20s with toddlers as well as 50+ empty-nesters.

Keep in mind—no lifting is allowed during initial recovery. If you have small children, you will need childcare help for up to 6 weeks or longer.

Because every mommy makeover is a customized combination of procedures, costs can vary quite a bit from one patient to the next. Factors like the number of areas being treated, the complexity of your surgery, anesthesia fees, and facility costs all play a role.

At Granite Bay Cosmetic Surgery, we’ll provide you with a detailed quote after your personal consultation so you know exactly what to expect—no surprises. While cost is certainly a consideration, we encourage patients in the Granite Bay and Sacramento areas to choose a provider based on experience, surgical skill, and safety—not just the bottom line.

Remember, your results are an investment in you. We also offer financing options to help make your mommy makeover more affordable.

Mommy makeover results can be long-lasting, especially if you maintain a stable weight and healthy lifestyle. However, future pregnancies, aging, or significant weight changes may affect your results. Choosing the right timing for your procedure—and taking care of your body afterward—helps maximize your outcome.

If you’re in good overall health, close to your ideal weight, and done having children, you may be a strong candidate. Some scarring is inevitable, but we take care to place incisions in discreet, natural folds of the body whenever possible. With time, most scars fade and become less noticeable. We’ll also walk you through options for supporting good scar healing as part of your recovery plan.

A mommy makeover isn’t designed to remove stretch marks, but some procedures—such as a tummy tuck or breast lift—can reduce their appearance by removing the affected excess skin. Depending on the location and severity of your stretch marks, this may offer noticeable improvement, but results will vary.

Not always. Some patients are happy with the results of one procedure alone, while others benefit most from combining the two. For example, if you’re experiencing sagging and want to restore volume, a lift with augmentation may deliver the most natural-looking results. We’ll help you decide what’s right for your body and goals during your consultation.

Most mommy makeover procedures involve surgery, but your plan can include non-surgical treatments as well. Many patients choose to add options like BOTOX®, dermal fillers, or laser skin treatments to enhance their results. We’re happy to explore these options with you.

Most patients return to non-strenuous work within 1–3 weeks, depending on the procedures performed. Light exercise may resume after about 4–6 weeks, with a gradual return to full activity. We’ll give you personalized guidance based on your recovery progress.
