The Blepharoplasty Procedure
Dr. Bray performs eyelid lift procedures at our private, on-site surgery center. Depending on procedure specifics, you may have general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation.
Upper Eyelid Surgery
Dr. Bray places incisions inconspicuously in the upper eyelid crease—once healed, no one will know you had surgery. Excess skin and fat are removed from the upper eyelid, which may involve removing or repositioning some of the muscle tissue as well. Once the excess skin and fat have been removed and Dr. Bray has achieved a natural-looking appearance, she will carefully close the incision with sutures. About one week after your surgery, these sutures are then removed.
Lower Eyelid Surgery
Incisions are placed either on the inside of the lower eyelid or just below the lower lash line to minimize scarring. Dr. Bray will then remove excess skin and fat from the lower eyelid, and tighten the remaining muscles and tissues for a smoother, refreshed appearance. This may involve removing or repositioning some of the muscle tissue as well. In some cases, an incision is made inside the lower eyelid if no skin needs to be removed to achieve your aesthetic goals.
Dr. Bray will close the incision with sutures.
Expect a 1 to 3-hour procedure. Upper eyelid surgery on its own using local anesthesia takes around 1 hour, while a combined procedure with upper and lower eyelid surgery can take around 3 hours. Then you can go home to rest and recover.
